The Princess Proclaims.....

"My mind went on vacation but now it's back!"

"Mom, when I grow up, I'm going to be a Princess Ballerina Fairy Mermaid Astronaut."

"Mom, I'm really sad right now. I wanted to marry Prince Eric. I want to have a real baby. I want to fall in love."

"Mom, I love learning about God and singing about God. Everyone needs to learn about God!"

"Mom, when we say I Love You to each other, it makes my heart sing!"

"Dad, I have to tell you something. Did you know when you eat, your ears wiggle?"

I Read About Him In Books........

The Princess has such an imagination.  I've said it before, I know.  She really does think she is going to marry a prince.  Not a great guy who treats her well and loves and adores her.  No, a REAL prince.

Today, we were playing card games and while I was shuffling, she was looking out the window.  She got real quiet and said "Mom, can I sing you a song?"   I said "Sure."   I wish I had a tape recorder.  She sang the most meloncholy song about wishing her prince would come see her.   I don't remember much of the song, but I do remember a part where she says "I read about him in books, I see him on tv, now I wish he would come to see me in real life so we can get married."

The PPS Man

When the Big Brown Truck stops at our house, my daughter shouts out "Mom, the PPS man is here. Is there something for me?"  Each time I tell her "It's not PPS, its UPS." I guess in her mind it is the Princess Parcel Service! Do you think UPS would mind changing their name (and color)?

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

I've noticed over the last few weeks, a tendency for more drama from The Princess. Today was no exception.

I was on my computer, when The Princess came up to me and asked me if she could play on Disney Online. I told her no and before I could say that she could play later, she scrunches up her nose, clenches her fist and says "You Are A Mean Mom Who Doesn't Want Me To Have Fun!"

Now, I'm feeling the love those are not words you want to hear from your child. I told her "You want to see a mean mom? Go to your room and sit on your bed. Don't play with any toys or read any books." My point being, your accusation of me being mean was just as unfounded as me sending her to her room for no reason.

Apparently this lesson was lost on The Princess. Well, she is only five but that was the best I could come up with on short notice.  I don't think quickly on my feet.  I'm hoping she doesn't notice this anytime soon.  Anyway, she lost it. Lost. It. Screamed at the top of her lungs for a good ten minutes. She knows the rule...if she screams and screams, I shut her door. She doesn't like that. She soon settled down.

When I went to talk to her, she was laying on her bed, with her eyes closed. I thought she must have worn herself out screaming so she fell asleep. Nope, she opened her eyes and sat up in bed giving me just about the saddest face I've ever seen. After a brief conversation about why I had her go in her room, she told me "Mom, do you know why I had my eyes close? I was praying to God. I asked him to please forgive me and wished that you would forgive me to. Do you?"  Well, how can you be mad at a sweet little girl after that? "Of course I forgive you, Princess." She said "I'm so glad mom, that you always forgive me."

A few minutes alter, she asked me if she could have some Bunny Crackers. I told her sure. She looked at me with a smile and said "Mom, You Are The Best Mom In The World."

Five year old girls can be fickle and full of drama.  I have no idea where she gets it from.  Really.  Drama or no drama, love me or not, I'm so thankful that this five year old is mine! :o)

OUCH!

My daughter is a hair twirler, usually the back, and usually when she is very, very tired.  She has been twirling her hair for several years, which is why I tend to keep her hair shorter.  When it's time to brush, the screaming and crying is kept to a minimum.   When she gets older and is able to take care of her own hair, she can decide how long it will be.  Until then, momma rules!

Sorry, I digress.

Not only does she like to twirl her own hair, she likes to twist up mine as well.  She will come up to me and put her arm around me, grab some hair in back and twist it around.  Usually, she stops after a bit and moves on to something else.  Usually.

This afternoon we were taking a nap.  It is not unusual for her to twist/twirl my hair before she falls asleep if she is napping with me, but she doesn't usually do it when she wakes up.   Usually.

I was woken up by the twisting/twirling of my hair.  Slowly at first.  Then she started pulling my hair.  I could feel her breath on the back of my head as she continued twisting my hair around.

"What are you doing E?", I asked as I was now painfully pulled into wakefulness.

Wait for it.....

Wait now....

I'm still laughing about this a few hours later......

"I'm looking for the eyes on the back of your head, but I don't see them!!!"

Bwaaahaaahaaahaaa!!  Keep looking Princess, and I hope you keep believing I have eyes back there for a long, long time! LOL

Sunday Morning Praise & Worship...........

in E's room today.  She loves Jesus and loves to sing songs to Him.  She is singing away to some of her VeggieTales CD's.

Singing "This Is The Day The Lord Has Made" along with Bob and Larry and the rest oft he VT gang:

Singing part of "Here I Am To Worship" with Natalie Grant:

It's so awesome to see my daughter worship God! It is my fervent prayer that she would love Jesus as much when she is 12 and when she is 20 and when she is 80 as she does today!

Warm Fuzzy Alert

As I've been blogging about, E is loving preschool...so much so, that when I tell her we are done for the day, she wants to do more!  This morning as we were sitting at the table, reviewing the short sound the letter E makes, she stops, folds her hands and says "God, thank you for my mom. Thank you that she gets to teach me things at preschool. Amen."

Definitely a Warm Fuzzy moment. ☺☺☺

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes

My husband and I still laughing at something The Princess said the other day about her dad.

There are many reasons why E loves her dad. He gets right down on the floor and plays games with her, builds sand castles with her at the beach, is the guest at many of her "birthday parties", lets her decorate his hair/body with any number of barrettes, jewelery, snuggles with her as they watch tv, has pillow fights with her, pretty much anything she wants. Her works very hard so that I can be a stay-at-home mom, but when he is home, he really enjoys spending quality time with her.

Fast forward to this past weekend. E and I just got out of our pool and are sitting in the sun drying off. E is nestled in the middle of her inner tube floaty that she likes to snuggle in when she is done swimming. She turns to me and says, ""Mom, I know some kids don't have dads, but I've got the best dad in the world." In that brief split second before she continues, I'm thinking, she's going to say something about how much fun he is to play with because we sometimes call him her "play mate" or something along those lines. No, as she continues with her thought, it was all I could do not to break out in laughter. "He picks up lots of dog poop from Jake and Luke." Of all the wonderful things that her daddy does, picking up dog poop apparently ranks #1. Out of the mouths of babes.
