Lazy Day

Just a quiet Sunday for us.  Dogs are sleeping on the floor, E and I spent a good 90 minutes in the pool this afternoon and are now just hanging out.  E alternates between playing mommy to her dolly (who is suffering from a bleeding canker sore...the dolly, not E...who has quite the imagination) and reading books.  Gotta love Lazy Days.

The rest of the week...........

We've been busy, enjoying the continued beautiful weather we are having.  Hard to believe that it is already mid-October and in less than three months, The Princess will be five years old!

I'm A Big Girl Now

The Princess LOVES the water. Up until now, she has refused all attempts to learn to swim, even with water wings on (you know, those little inflatable bands that go around the kids' arms) instead using her orange floaty to float around the pool. I finally put my foot down and told her that if she wanted to continue to play in the pool, she must TRY every day to swim, starting with floating. She was so scared and could not relax even with my arms holding her from below. So, we purchased a swim vest and the difference was like night and day with her. She had a small kick board from last year that she wanted to try out so she was practicing her swimming holding onto the kick board. I convinced her to put the water wings on and that was the push she really needed. She is all over the pool now, using her legs AND arms to "swim" all over. She told me today "I can swim better than daddy." Not quite Princess, not quite....but soon. :o)

Breakfast, pool, lunch, nap, pool, dinner, bed.......

That has been the schedule of our summer days. My sweet husband works two jobs so that I can stay home with our daughter, and enjoy this wonderful, laid back schedule with her. We we lucky enough to have a pool when I was a kid, and I remember how much fun we had playing in it with our neighborhood friends. I'm going to go back to work when The Princess goes to school (not until 2010) so until then I am enjoying all of this precious time I get to spend with her. Following Stellan's story has reminded me not to take any of this time with The Princess for granted. So I'm off to hug my daughter and tell her how grateful I am that God chose us for each other.

This Is The Life

Whenever E is in the pool, she'll invariably say "This Is The Life." She LOVES the water, the outdoors, whether we are at the beach or riding our bikes or just in our pool, as long as she can feel the sun on her face. Which is part of the reason we ended up leaving Seattle to move back to Florida. We BOTH needed to feel that sun, every day. It may be hot this time of year. We may be dripping with sweat whenever we step outside. But E and I agree....This Is The Life!
